Sega releasing "Rush Rush Rally Racing" this October

By Blackwalt - Posted on 09 September 2009

For me?: But I'm obsolete! For me?: But I'm obsolete! For DREAMCAST

Yes you read that right. More info at BitMob.

The Dreamcast’s 10-year anniversary just got a little more exciting. Redspotgames, a publisher that thankfully didn’t get the memo about the system’s demise, has just announced a new game for the Sega Dreamcast.

That’s right; Rush Rush Rally Racing will be hitting Amazon and eBay’s virtual store shelves this October for the low price of $22. I can’t believe I’m actually typing these words in 2009, but you can pre-order this Dreamcast game now via the publisher’s website.

Stats! Boring, boring, Stats!

More fascinating statistics provided to us by Q-Bert

I think it's because he loves us. Or hates us. It's too close to call. It may also have been because I asked for them.

And as Top Ten's are just too lame for Herd of Cats here is:

Herd of Cats' Top Twenty Five Lists celebrating our Two Year Anniversary!

Notes:

  1. I didn't check any of the links but they should all work
  2. This would look better if OL still indented text. Q-Bert says it still does (flying in the face of the evidence) but as you can see it doesn't. Maybe someday he'll fix it
  3. this list wasn't remotely formatted when I received it. Just saying.

And now, with out further ado! On to the lists!

Windows 7 - It sucks less!

Some people have a great idea. The Windows 7 Launch Drinking Game Party. I like the title: Microsoft arranges spontaneous house parties. Now if you arrange a party, can it truly be considered spontaneous?

August 2009 Top Picks

By Blackwalt - Posted on 08 September 2009

Five pages of content for August, back up to our usual average. The two predominant themes this month were Half-pint's latest brush with death illness and Batman Arkham Asylum. Call of Duty Zombie mode hardly made an appearance.

Charts. Boring, boring, charts....

By Blackwalt - Posted on 08 September 2009

Zzzzzzzz.....

Q-Bert has provided us with a series of statistics in chart form. Compliments of Google Analytics. I know. I too am riveted.

Some of the captions are mine, some of them are his, these are all based over two years. I think.

DisasterPiece on: HoC 2 Year anniversary

By Akuf - Posted on 08 September 2009

Ok it is not as verbose as the original. But, since seeing swag's questionnaire way of answering here is my response to HoC two anniversary.

favourite story:
- I must say it will have to be Swag's failed conquest of Egyptian Girl.

favourite story series
- My ongoing saga with Chin up girl. (too many links to post so I just included the first one)

They can also level up and improve their stats and abilities. But make no mistake; Borderlands, while having some RPG elements, is at its core a twitch-based shooter. Item drops include weapons and ammo in addition to loot and you spend the majority of your time shooting creatures from the planet.

Crackdown postmortem. Two years later

Ok, not really. In October 2007 Game Developer magazine printed a postmortem of Crackdown with Dave Jones, Crackdown's producer from Realtime Worlds.

Two years later, Gamasutra is publishing it online for the first time:

Now I know why Stormblade stopped playing Uno

Good god! My eyes!!!

Permaban?: What Permaban?Permaban?: What Permaban?Stephen Toulouse, the Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox LIVE, gave a keynote speech at PAX and spoke to a largely gamer audience about how to get banned from Xbox LIVE. His talk started humorously with an "example" of the gamertag Poonhunter and Poonhunter's "style" of playing Battlefield 1943. It ended with the Service Archangels swooping down and silencing the offender. It is an entertaining read and the full video is available as well. You can also find full video of the Q & A with the Policy and Enforcement Team.

…oh yeah. Naked Uno. Actually, naked anything. But come on, naked Xbox LIVE Uno was not meant to be. Naked chutes and ladders, maybe. Naked Risk…I can see it. But no naked Uno. So to be clear, and I know no one here is one of these people, but being naked on the camera on Xbox LIVE is a Permaban offense no matter what the activity.

The full transcript is available on Stephen Toulouse's website.

Swag's thoughts on HerdofCats turning two

By Blackwalt - Posted on 07 September 2009

Technically, one inmate did respond to the request for 2 year input.

And here it is, uneditted. Please note that I included a list of possible thoughts and topics to cover. Swag helpfully answered all of them as a questionnaire. Some of it may even be questionable. Hey, that's the joy of being random.

Favorite Story: More of less anything that involved Aku trying to pick up women.
Best Memory: How much people seemed to be interested in my sex life (the Egyptian Girl thread), or in that case lack thereof.
How I got drawn into HerdofCats: I was bored, or something.
What I liked about the site: Laughing at a bunch of old guy's meaningless lives. Being able to post stuff that I like. Making fun of people in general.

COD4 gamers outraged (apparently)

By Blackwalt - Posted on 06 September 2009

The last COD4 patch has caused some controversy

Well, for all the cheaters and hackers anyway. So more details at BLP Gaming but essentially Infinity Ward has stopped gamers from using pistols and single shot rifles as machine guns. Well past time as far as I am concerned. I gave out a cheer when I read that. A loud one that made Guba and Q-Bert stare at me.

The first upcoming game mentioned on HerdofCats - two years ago

By Blackwalt - Posted on 06 September 2009

This is me catching up

Hmmm.... that's a little graphic isn't it?Hmmm.... that's a little graphic isn't it?So you may have heard that HerdofCats.ca turned two. And you may remember the distinct lack of response from all of the inmates.
