Oh yeah. There was Crackdown coverage at E3

By Blackwalt - Posted on 18 June 2017

With Terry Crews

Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive. CRACKDOWN 3 OFFICIAL E3 2017 TRAILER. Step up your BOOM! Suit up and throw down as a superpowered agent on a mission to take back the city. Terry Crews as Commander Jaxon wants you to join in on the open world mayhem, dropping November 7, 2017.

Apparently the E3 appearance Crackdown was considered a letdown by a lot of people. The massive, destructible world is for online, adversarial play only. Partly because they removed the always online requirement for single player and partly because you are theoretically playing as a hero and wholesale destruction does not befit a hero.

No wholesale destruction? That's not the kind of hero I want to be.

Coming soon seems to have changed to 2018

Calling all adventurers! As it's E3 week, and reveals are everywhere, we're extremely excited to finally be able to give you a first look at gameplay from Strange Brigade!

Not only will you get to see a coffin load of explosive gameplay, but we've also got commentary from Strange Brigade's Lead Designer (Tim Jones) and Lead Artist (Andy Pattinson)!

Is is just me or are "2018" and "coming soon" two vastly different time estimates? (Obviously, which ever it is, I am still interested)

Sega Nite: Returning to Gun Game

By Blackwalt - Posted on 17 June 2017

With Zombie Chronicles not out until Thursday we had to fill our time on Sega Nite

We did this with Black Ops II. In zombie mode of course. Until I had to leave for a bit, that is...

I needed to provide brief help around the house. Right after another unsuccessful attempt at Origins. Since things hadn't been going well in Zombie Mode Coxxorz and Graybush decided to try regular multi-player. The fact that this happened the second I left was purely a coincidence.

So I came back just as they decided to play Gun Game. A mode that I had previously covered as not being one of my favourites. This may be why they got upset when I won the first round. And yes, winning was nice, but the best part of this Gun Game was the final kill...

Zombie Chronicles is out!

By Blackwalt - Posted on 15 June 2017

Right Now! Go get it!

Sadly it is $39.99 CDN. However, since it is Zombies you can find it here on Xbox.com or if you prefer you can find it on the Xbox Store through your XBox One (which is what I did).

18.24GB so start early...

HoC Random Error Message of the Day - 061317

By Blackwalt - Posted on 13 June 2017

As much as I am enjoying Crossout this error message surprised me

Mainly because this error message occurred immediately after a forced update.

Particularly annoying.

Coxxorz finally gets what's coming to him!

By Blackwalt - Posted on 13 June 2017

His 50th Birthday Present!

A while ago we realized there was a momentous occasion that needed to be celebrated. Coxxorz' 50th birthday which we charmingly titled You can't make me celebrate my 50th!

This turned out to be more accurate than expected. Eventually the attempt to Herd Cats was abandoned and Blackwalt and Coxxorz scheduled a weekday coop day to celebrate more privately. Being properly motivated (by Guba) to get Cozzorz' gift out of the basement may have helped. It was a big box, two feet by two feet by two feet. Big.

Everyone from HoC knows that Collector's Editions are like catnip to Coxxorz. That's why for his 50 Birthday it had to be something special. Hoc succeeded.

Slowly through out the coop day he worked his way through his gifts (a hat, a flashlight, a stick, a book) eventually culminating with the giant box and the Titanfall Collector's Edition. We have previously covered the size of this Collector's Edition.

Coxxorz was wowed by the fact that we had found a copy of this in demand, 2014, release. He immediately set it up and began playing with it.

And yes, there is video...

POW, BANG, GOODBYE! Adam West passes away at 88

By Blackwalt - Posted on 11 June 2017

The same Bat time no more...

The internet pretty much broke when it was announced yesterday that Adam West had passed away.

West died Friday night after "a short but brave battle with leukemia," his publicist, Molly Schoneveld, said Saturday in a statement. He was 88.

"Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight, and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans' lives," West's children said in a statement. "He was and always will be our hero."

Rebellion announces Strange Brigade

By Blackwalt - Posted on 11 June 2017

Rebellion, of course, are the developers of Zombie Army Trilogy and are our buds

Being developed by Rebellion isn't the only reason we should be interested. Something about four player coop, set in the 1930s, fighting mystical forces...

Clearly not zombies, however. Other mystical forces.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Moon

By Blackwalt - Posted on 03 June 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Moon

I read an article about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3. This lead me to realize how lucky we were to have backwards compatibility on the Xbox One. Compatibility that included the three Call of Duty games that included the Original zombie maps. While waiting for the Xbox release of Zombie Chronicles I decided this would be the ideal chance to revisit the original maps in their original forms. One player, one attempt... How bad could it be?

Number seven: Moon

"One of these days Blackwalt — POW! Straight to the Moon!"

I have to admit that I am trying to blank out my memories of this Revisiting Zombie Chronicles series. I had been expecting somewhat better results. I just wasn't getting them. Visiting the moon I remembered that we usually headed to the Bio-dome and set up there. I didn't make it there. I didn't get close.

Once again I found the stakeout but skipped it to try an get something useful out of the tickle trunk! However the sniper rifle proofed un-useful. I stuck with the M14 and the MPL. I didn't get far enough along to grab anything else.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Shangri-la

By Blackwalt - Posted on 29 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Shangri-la

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number six: Shangri-la

Ohhhh Shangri-la! Once again I went in hoping for better and then got spiked twice while moving into the second room. Totally forgot about those until I got hit. Twice.

Once again I happily found and bought the stakeout! I had worked my way down to the cave and even managed to tickle trunk once. This is when I set up in the back with the geyser as an emergency escape route.

This worked for one round until I discovered that the geyser was also an entrance for the zombies and not the clear escape route I had thought it was.

Revisiting Zombie Chronicles: Ascension

By Blackwalt - Posted on 25 May 2017

Game: Call of Duty Black Ops. Map: Ascension

In an article yesterday I read about a Playstation player who missed playing the original Zombie Chronicles maps once he retired his PS3.

Number five: Ascension

Remember how I keep hoping that this will get better? Turns out this doesn't happen in Ascension although I thought it was going well. Still no double digits.

The stakeout! I think the happiest I have been replaying these classic zombie maps was when I found the stakeout on the wall and had enough money to buy one. My favourite shotgun from the zombie maps and I demonstrated it on as many zombies as I could find!

I managed to find the Tickle trunk and even get a LMG. I worked my way to the open area and was about to set up in the back room that we usually camped. I never managed to open the large door as the zombies coming out of the mud took me out. This was when I realized I had forgotten to buy Quick Revive.
