BREAKING NEWS: Swag has a date tomorrow, needs advice, viagra.

By Swag - Posted on 03 April 2009

Ok I don't need that last part, and in all honesty it's probably not even a date, but I can dream can't I?

Post advice here! Help a guy out who isn't old, broken down, and decrepit!

For obvious reasons I will not say where I am going, since I don't want any Aku 'interference' or 'help'.

Nor will I post a picture of her, but I can give hints. I was thinking of an Aku-script name for her, and I think I'll just go with Egyptian-girl.

What swag's date may look like*:

*The above do not look like swag's date at all, except your mom.

Swag's picture

I really don't know what either of you mean. Heh.

Akuf's picture

A woman rises to the occasion with two different scenarios.
1) She is really cold
2) She is really horny

This is another difference between men and women. With men: If they are cold they shrink to the occasion.

Don't resign yourself to the Friends ladder just yet. You did miss some Aku opportunities, but remember that you're not Aku, and being yourself is always the best policy.

As for umbrella holding, Mrs. Coxxorz and I have the same problem. When she holds it, blindness is a real danger. But when I hold it, she still gets wet due to the altitude. Try it both ways, and see what's cozier for you!

Can't wait for the next debriefing.

Swag's picture

Although pulling of the same trick of forgetting my umbrella may make her suspicious.

Hmmm....WWAD (what would aku do)?

Nah, I wouldn't ask myself that question.....well ok sometimes.

I am being myself.
Though I do agree being yourself is the best policy. However, if you become boring believe me she will lose interest fast!

Think about this.
How many really good quality women ( be it looks, successful, good people ) wind up with these 'bad boys' so to speak? It's because these bad boys create attraction be it a) sense of adventure b) a challenge c) or the ever lasting goal 'to change' someone etc.

I am always myself with them I just create an image that they will be attracted to. All I do is give out 'confident, calm and collected' attitude. I don't put them on pedestals, I don't grovel over them etc. I treat them like people not like gorgeous women. And this is where many guys fail (even me at one point in time). I learned not to come of as a 'wuss' and be 'cocky and funny' which in turn shows confidence. You will see you do this and the women will be lining up and fighting over you.

1- I thought you already had a "stable relationship".
2- Let's say that you actually go out on this mythical "date", does *she* know it's a date ?
3- It's not the first of April today ...
4- I can't wait to tell your father you have "gone Muslim"....

Regardless of how many arms she has... I recommend you "take care of business" before your date. This will ensure you're thinking with your head, and you'll be much more relaxed and comfortable all evening. You don't want to come on too strong on your first "date"!

Swag's picture

That should help things. You can be my new pseudo-son soon!

Akuf's picture

I would not go with you on your date.

But if you want advice some info is required
1) how/where did you meet
2) who initiated
3) when you met what was said etc
4) did she demonstrate any IOI (indicators of interest see below)
5) did you bring up anything geeky at any point?
6) how did the meeting end

IOIs
twirling hair
touch four arm
laughing with you not at you.

Swag's picture

First, I didn't want you to come with me, I just didn't want you to show up and spontaneously ruin (or help?) everything. :P

Anyway..

1)Several months ago, but we only really started talking recently. And I met her through a friend in Ottawa.
2)I initiated the meeting itself, if that's what you mean.
3)If you mean the initial meeting, I don't really remember. She's been out of the country for a couple weeks, so we've had to email, but we talked about lots of things. I felt that she was confining to me things that she wouldn't normally tell people. Is that a good sign?
4) Twirling hair: No. Touching forearm: Possibly...not sure. Laughing with me: Yeah, I'm actually decent at that. I was also told that I "make her giggle". And I suppose that I should say my friend who introduced me to her recently (couple weeks ago) told me this:

Friend: "Hey, I have good news!"
Me: "Good news?"
Friend: "Yeah, Egyptian girl said that if you were a couple years older you would be 'exactly her type'"
Me: "I see..."

Is this a good thing? I am really not sure. I can't age extra fast..

5)I am aware enough about this aspect to know not to do it, and I know not to complain about things while talking. I didn't say that I was watching Battlestar Galactica, or talked about any video games. However, I did talk about the 3D stuff that I was working on, but that impresses everyone anyway (including her from what I can tell).
6)There was no single meeting, so I don't know. However, I got nice hugs the last couple times that I saw her. Plus she laughed when I said that I don't get hugs often, and when she mentioned that she likes giving hugs, I made her laugh by saying that we should "practice hugging". Good?

Man, if by some miracle this works out, I hope she never finds this site.

Ok so when you started talking is what we need to know. But after reading the rest of your post it seems she is comfortable with you kudos!

2)I initiated the meeting itself, if that's what you mean.
Did you ask her out the first time. Or even this time or did she ask you?

3)If you mean the initial meeting, I don't really remember.

She's been out of the country for a couple weeks,
Hopefully you weren't the cause of this :)

so we've had to email, but we talked about lots of things. I felt that she was confining to me things that she wouldn't normally tell people. Is that a good sign?

Ok I am going to assume you meant confiding if so REVEKED! But seriously this is usually bad sign. When women do this it usually means your are on the friend ladder or on your way to the friendship zone (read The Ladder Theory this should explain it a little better). Be careful you are going to set yourself up for disappointment.

4) Twirling hair: No. Touching forearm: Possibly...not sure. Laughing with me: Yeah, I'm actually decent at that. I was also told that I "make her giggle". And I suppose that I should say my friend who introduced me to her recently (couple weeks ago) told me this:

Making them laugh is a good thing. This 'older' comment read my response to coxxorz. This friend that introduced you male or female? If female this could have another scenario.

Is this a good thing? I am really not sure. I can't age extra fast..
That depends what is the age difference between you two? And if she is making comments like that now. Chances are it is something that bothers her. And if you two do get together this may become a problem later. Be aware that this could be a red flag for her and it should for you as well. See for me age is irrelevant (ok yes, the extremely young I stay away from as well as the extremely old) it's a number if people make an issue out of it that it is an issue and they shouldn't be together.

She probably feigned interest (no offence) one thing I never do is talk about work when I am hitting on someone or on a date. Unless of course the conversation steers that but even then I make brief. Usually if a girl asks what you do that is usually the first sign of a gold digger. She basically trying to find out how much money you make. In the recent case of wannabe mac girl she brought the work thing up. And I made a joke about changing the subject and it was dropped.

6)There was no single meeting, so I don't know. However, I got nice hugs the last couple times that I saw her. Plus she laughed when I said that I don't get hugs often, and when she mentioned that she likes giving hugs, I made her laugh by saying that we should "practice hugging". Good?

Nice hugs are a good thing
Then when I read you said this: "I don't get hugs that often" this would be bad, but saying this: "practice hugging" was great, kudos. That my friend is the concept of negging. Never complain about anything though you did was great setup so good for you!

Man, if by some miracle this works out, I hope she never finds this site.
haha well Chinup girl almost found this site when she was around. And if she does well.... :)

Good on you, you did good. But there are a few things that you should improve
- Like coxxorz says get a haircut!
- you should probably workout though some women love ectomorphs (which is what you are). Most woman like to lean more to the Mesomorph side. But this will take time
- Well I am not going to judge your wardrobe from the few times I have seen you because you were just wearing whatever. But I hope you don't wear the same type outfits when meeting/dating/gaming (not to be confused with video gaming) women.

This is great I will make a venutian artist out of you yet.

Swag's picture

Seriously, I will keep this in mind for future reference (most anyway, other people should also take note of this....like a certain long lost brother of mine).

I did ask her out first by the way.

After reading the Ladder Theory, you may be right (I am on the friends ladder). It's rather hard to tell.....I do like how that article mentions Nietzsche though.

The friend who introduced me was male....but he's on the other team if you know what I mean. Does that make it more complicated?

As for the age issue, she is only about a year and a half older than me. I would say that the impression that I get is that down the road it wouldn't be a huge deal. She isn't looking for someone who is 40+ or anything (from what I know).

About talking about work, well I was actually asked if she could see some of my stuff (she asked for my site), but before that I did keep it brief. After I did elaborate on some details and got a little technical, but again, she asked for it (mostly).

Thanks about the hugging trick comment, I thought it was pretty smooth as well.

Yeah, I have been meaning to work out for years now, and I think that I will start soon. I mostly wanted to do it to feel better though, physical improvement is only a side effect.

As for my wardrobe, yes it could improve, but I do have some nicer clothes that I don't normally wear (like to LAN parties).

One last thing. What is the problem with my hair? I know that last time I saw you guys, I really needed one, but that was because I was holding it off a bit so that I could get it right before Egyptian girl came back. Should I shave my head or what?

Coxxorz's picture

"If you were a couple years older" = " If you had more money". I think Aku can verify this.

Otherwise, you could always try getting a haircut and put some weight on your skinny ass.

Akuf's picture

Could be one translation. Easy way to figure this out depends on her body language, her sens of style and the way she talks. But saying that along with the body language will be a huge indicator.

- But it can also be the way he dresses (no offence)
- It appears that he talked about the 3D stuff. Which I agree is cool but depending on what her interests are it could have been very dry for her.

I wasn't there (thankfully) because she probably would have left with me and that would cause friction between swag and I (kidding).

Stormblade's picture

You makes it sound way too much like work. I am far too lazy to pay attention to any of the above.

Which, perhaps, explains why I am single.

Coxxorz's picture

Right?

Akuf's picture

So I don't see your point??
