- Bungie and Microsoft Corp. today announced a plan for Bungie Studios, the developers of Microsoft’s “Halo” franchise, to become a privately held independent company, Bungie, LLC, in which Microsoft will hold a minority equity interest.

Shouldn't that be "Microsoft, publishers of of Bungie Studios Halo franchise"? Anyway, I'm suspicious of any move by Microsoft to unload a cash-making property like this. Here's a clue what they may be up to:
"We will continue to develop with our primary focus on Microsoft’s platforms..."
"Primary" means "not exclusivley". I take this to mean MS intends to gradually use their hottest IP generator as a Trojan horse on other platforms.
